On May 28,178028, 1780, Governor TyronTyron, commander of the royal troops in New York, sent the traitortraitor, Benedict Arnold toharass the Connecticut coast. Jabez Fox,who had been elevated to harass the CT coastrank of “Sergeant Fox” in the revolutionary army, raised a small company of men to assist General Putnam in his defense of theConnecticut border. Sergeant Fox’scompany of twelve men were attacked by a larger force of British and Torycavalry. Sergeant Fox and his men took coverin a brick schoolhouse where they defended themselves, killing six of theattacking force. Their ammunitionfinally ran out and they escaped through a back window and ran across a fieldto a swamp. Sergeant Fox was the last toleave the house and was overtaken by the Tory leader, Captain Finch. Fox knew Finch and asked for “quarter” (mercy)calling Finch by name, but Captain Finch called him a “ rebel” and cut him downwith his sword, killing him. My favorite color is black. I have 5 people in my family. I have a sister, a brother, a mom and a dad. I also have a dog and a cat. Even though Hannah Bunce Watson is not alive today, I still think she would be an awesome person, and one who would never give up. If Hannah was still alive today I would ask her why did you never give up on your dreams.

Blickensderfer invented the portable and electric typewriter. Without these inventions, we might not have computers or the internet today! They were very important at the time because businessmen needed portable typewriters to send letters, and electric typewriters were great because they made typing fast and easier than non-electric typewriters. Also, we have used his simple idea to bring laptops and computers to our world today.

George had four main traits- he was adventurous, positive, lucky, and thoughtful. This is why... Blickensderfer was thoughtfulbecause he was an inventor with very thought out products. He was positivebecause during World War I, his company went under, so he invented somethingelse instead of giving up and ending his company. I know George was veryadventurous because he got the idea for a portable typewriter while traveling ona train. People who travel a lot, like he did, are usually adventurous. Georgewas lucky because right when his company went under, the French needed guns, sohe made them and got more money from an invention that fills guns withcartridges. George Blickensderfer's character traits helped him succeed in lifeby never letting him give up (luck and being positive) and they helped him havea good, happy, interesting life (thoughtfulness and adventurous traits).

One of the challenges Georgefaced was during World War I was that no one felt the need for a portabletypewriter. His company went out of business for a little while, so he solvedthe problem by selling a new invention for filling guns cartridges to theFrench. His other problem was IBM inventing the golf ball model typewriter, acreation just as good as his was. Luckily, the French were still placing largeorders for his gun invention, so he was able to stay in business from thatuntil he invented the electric typewriter.
